Autoplay
A setting that spins the reels automatically for a chosen number of rounds, often with loss and win limits you can set in advance. Restricted or removed in some jurisdictions.
B
Bonus Round
A special feature separate from the base game — a pick-me screen, wheel, or themed mini-game — that offers enhanced rewards and is typically triggered by scatters or a dedicated symbol.
Buy Feature
An option to pay a fixed multiple of your stake to jump straight into a slot's bonus round instead of waiting for it to trigger naturally. Banned in some regulated markets.

Cashback
A refund of a percentage of your net losses over a period, returned as cash or bonus funds. Cash cashback usually has no wagering attached; bonus cashback does.

Demo / Play-for-fun

Free Spins
Spins awarded by the game (or a casino promotion) that cost nothing to play, while any winnings are still credited. In-game free spins usually come with extra modifiers like multipliers or added wilds.

Hit Frequency
How often a slot lands any winning spin, given as a percentage. A 25% hit frequency means roughly one in four spins returns something — separate from how large those wins are.
House Edge
The casino's built-in mathematical advantage, equal to 100% minus the RTP. A slot with 96% RTP has a 4% house edge — the long-run share the operator keeps.
M
Max Win
The maximum payout a slot can return, expressed as a multiple of your stake — for example 5,000x. Once a spin reaches the cap, the game stops adding winnings even if the feature continues.
Max Win (bonus)
A cap on how much you can withdraw from a bonus, common on no-deposit and free-spin offers. Winnings above the cap are forfeited when you cash out.
Megaways
A reel engine licensed from Big Time Gaming where each reel shows a random number of symbols every spin, changing the number of ways to win — often up to 117,649 — from one spin to the next.
Multiplier
A value that multiplies the size of a win — a 3x multiplier triples it. Multipliers can be fixed, random, or build up progressively during a feature.

No-Deposit Bonus
A small bonus — bonus cash or free spins — credited just for registering, with no deposit required. Comes with strict wagering terms and low maximum cashout limits.
P
Paylines
The lines across the reels on which matching symbols must land to form a winning combination. Slots can have anywhere from a single payline to hundreds, or use 'ways' systems instead of fixed lines.
Progressive Jackpot
A prize pool that grows as players across a network keep betting, until one lucky spin wins it and the jackpot resets to a seed value. Payouts can reach seven figures.

Reload Bonus
A deposit match offered to existing players on top-ups after the welcome offer, often on set days or as part of a loyalty programme. Typically a smaller percentage than the welcome bonus.
RTP (Return to Player)
The percentage of all wagered money a slot pays back to players over a very long run. A 96% RTP means $96 returned for every $100 staked on average, across millions of spins — not a guarantee for any single session. Higher is better for the player.
S
Scatter
A symbol that pays or triggers a feature regardless of where it lands on the reels — it does not need to sit on a payline. Scatters most often trigger free spins or bonus rounds.
Sticky Wild
A wild symbol that locks in place for a set number of spins instead of disappearing after one, raising the odds of repeated wins while it stays put — common in free-spin features.
T
Tumble / Cascade
A mechanic where winning symbols are removed and new ones drop in to fill the gaps, allowing several consecutive wins from a single spin. Also called cascading reels, avalanche, or rolling reels.
V
Volatility / Variance
How risky a slot's payouts are. Low-volatility games pay small wins often; high-volatility games pay rarely but can land much bigger. Variance describes the same trait — the swing between wins and dry spells.
W
Wagering Requirement
How many times you must bet a bonus (and sometimes the deposit) before you can withdraw related winnings. '30x' on a $50 bonus means $1,500 in total wagers. Lower multiples and short time limits are friendlier.
Welcome Bonus
The introductory offer for new players, usually a deposit match (e.g. 100% up to $200) and often paired with free spins. Spread across your first deposits as a 'welcome package'.
Wild
A symbol that substitutes for most other symbols to help complete a winning combination. Variants include expanding, stacked, walking and sticky wilds.
